AMPLIFYING ASIAN VOICES — SINCE 2008

Asian American women are a force to reckon with. Whether we are sweeping up nominations like Sandra Oh or aligning with communities of color like Grace Lee Boggs, we find all celebrations of achievement and pure moments of joy important to share and experience with the larger Asian American community.

As the longest-running digital publication for Asian American women, we recognize, celebrate, and support Asian American women — inclusive of trans, cis, or gender nonconforming individuals — by amplifying the stories and perspectives of all marginalized genders.

Monday Girl

THE BOYS' CLUB, BUT FOR ALL WOMEN

When Istiana and I first met back in 2017, we were both new grads and new to Toronto. Everyone told us "your network is your net worth"-- so we tried cold reaching out to companies on LinkedIn (never received a single response), attended a bunch of slimy corporate and male-dominated networking events...the list went on. Sound familiar?

Very quickly, we realized how difficult it was to meet cool like-minded women who shared our ambitions or that could give us relatable career advice. It was time to change this, so Istiana and I created Monday Girl— the first and largest career platform in Canada for professional women that *actually* gives you the tools, connections, and insider secrets to help you succeed and level up your career. The "boys' club" was certainly not made for us, so we built our own.

National Center for Women & Information Technology

THE IDEA YOU DON'T HAVE IS THE VOICE YOU HAVEN'T HEARD.

NCWIT is a non-profit community that convenes, equips, and unites change leader organizations to increase the influential and meaningful participation of girls and women — at the intersections of race/ethnicity, class, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability status, and other historically marginalized identities — in the field of computing, particularly in terms of innovation and development.

Before NCWIT was chartered in 2004 by the National Science Foundation, programs focusing on women and computing existed mostly in isolation — without the benefit of shared best practices, effective resources, communication with others, or national reach. Today, these programs are part of the NCWIT community, creating a far greater impact than if institutions acted alone.

#Networked

If Giovanni Boccaccio Zoomed into 2020, was a lawyer instead of a writer, and spent copious amounts of time writing posts on LinkedIn rather than writing Italian Renaissance literature, The Decameron may have looked a lot different.

Replace the bucolic Florentine countryside with a fast-paced social networking site, the ten carefree Italian youths with fifty ambitious, hard-charging women lawyers, and The Decameron may look a lot like #Networked, the first book of its kind to emerge from the COVID-19 global pandemic. ···
